A Brief History...
Crescent Music Club began in 1923 when a music committee was established within Greenville’s Crescent Community Club. A year later, the “music section” became a member of the South Carolina Federation of Music Clubs and was officially designated “Crescent Music Club” in 1925.
In 1938, the CMC took the first steps in establishing a local symphony orchestra, and in 1955 established what would become the Carolina Youth Symphony.
The Club thrived through the 1960s and began offering scholarships to young musicians in the early 1970s. Mrs. Hinda Honigman, former NFMC president, became a member of CMC in 1981.

"The mission of this organization shall be to stimulate and broaden interest in the musical activities in South Carolina; to participate in the work of the National Federation of Music Clubs; to bring into working relations with SCFMC music clubs and other musical organizations; to aid and encourage musical education and to develop and maintain high musical standards in the state."

The mission of the South Carolina Federation of Music Clubs (SCFMC) is to stimulate and broaden interest in the musical activities in South Carolina;
to participate in the work of the National Federation of Music Clubs;
to bring into working relations with SCFMC

to aid and encourage musical education and to develop
and maintain high musical standards in the state.
